At Leicester Tigers' last Gallagher Premiership home game, the club were delighted to host attendees from global partner club Dendermonde.

The Mixed Ability Rugby Team travelled from Belgium to take part in a local festival at Leicester Forest RFC with local teams Witney Wolves, Stafford and Old Leamingtonians.

On Saturday, April 27, 50 players took part in adapted game formats before heading to Mattioli Woods Welford Road stadium to watch the clash with Bristol Bears.

Mixed Ability Rugby combines players with additional needs and support players to allow all players to bring their individuals skills, energy and passion to the pitch.

Speaking about the visit of a global partner, Tigers Community Manager, Dan Hemingway, said "It was a pleasure to welcome Dendermonde to Mattioli Woods Welford Road and we were pleased to see how much the team enjoyed the festival at Leicester Forest.

"To see the way in which players adapt to create an enjoyable environment for each other, is testament of their love for the game, and ensuring it is truly inclusive."

The Tigers Community team continue to work in local schools and community hubs as part of Project Rugby to develop the Mixed Ability game further across our regions.

In addition to Project Rugby, the Leicester Tigers Foundation run weekly sessions at Mattioli Woods Welford Road stadium for individuals with additional needs to be active and involved in rugby and a variety of inclusive sports.
